💗 Why We Love This Recipe
- Simple – they are really simple to make with easy to find ingredients.
- No bake – these are a no bake treat so they are a perfect treat to get the kids involved with
- Bite-sized – they are perfect for little hands and there’s no serving to deal with.
- Chocolate – Oreos and milk chocolate are a winning combination!
🛒 Ingredients
- 36 regular Oreos (crushed) + 15 Oreos pulled apart
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1- 1 ½ cups chocolate – milk chocolate chips, or candy melts
- Mini chocolate chips
- Candy eyes – Amazon, Michaels, Walmart, most grocery stores in the baking aisle
- vegetable shortening or coconut oil, optional
🥄 Instructions
Place wax paper on baking sheet and set aside.
Step One: Crush the Oreos
- Take the top off of the Oreos and scrape the white frosting off the cookies.
- In a food processor or blender, crush the Oreos into fine crumbs. You can also put them in a zip top bag and crush them with a rolling pin. (This is a great option for the kids to help with!)
- Take 15 Oreos and take one side off, then scrape the white frosting out and discard. Break the Oreos into halves. Don’t worry if they aren’t perfect, this makes the wings look more authentic. Set these aside.
Step Two: Make the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl mix together the crushed Oreos, cream cheese, and vanilla until thoroughly combined.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet and chill for 30 minutes.
Step Three: Melt Chocolate
- Put the chocolate chips into a in a microwave safe bowl with the coconut oil (or vegetable shortening) and microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between until the chocolate is melted. NOTE: if using candy melts, don’t add anything to it when melting. They will melt to a perfect, smooth consistency.
- Using a spoon, roll the balls individually into the chocolate and place them on a lined baking tray.
Step Four: Decorate
- Carefully press in the Oreo halves – one on each side. You may need to hold them for a few seconds to make sure they don’t fall off.
- Add the mini chocolate chips to the top of the ball for the ears.
- Allow the balls to chill in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
- Then, add a small drop of chocolate to the back of the eyes. And apply eyes to the front of the bat and let dry.
Once they are full made, they will be very difficult to freeze. I recommend that if you need to make them ahead of time, freeze the base truffle and add the eyes and wings just before you’re ready to eat them.
These will last for several days in the refrigerator.
