Best Watermelon Lemonade Recipe

There’s nothing better than a refreshing, homemade drink that’s both delicious and easy to make. When you need something to quench your thirst and brighten your day, my Watermelon Lemonade is the perfect choice. It’s naturally sweet, tangy, and bursting with fresh fruit flavor. Whether you’re hosting a gathering, enjoying a quiet afternoon, or just looking for a fun twist on a classic, this drink is a must-try.

While we love a good glass of Classic Homemade Lemonade, this version adds a refreshing watermelon twist that makes it even more irresistible!

Why This is the Best Watermelon Lemonade Recipe

Several things stand out in my recipe:

  • Ultra refreshing and naturally sweet – Fresh watermelon provides natural sweetness, meaning less added sugar is needed.
  • Easy & Quick – just blend and serve. It’s ready in under 5 minutes.
  • Customizable – Add sparkling water for a fizzy twist, or blend with frozen watermelon cubes for a slushy treat.

Ingredients Needed for Watermelon Lemonade

ingredients on counter
  • fresh seedless watermelon – you’ll need enough for four cups.
  • cold water
  • lemon juice – I like to use lemons to squeeze fresh lemon juice
  • granulated sugar – add just a bit of extra sweetness you expect in lemonade
  • Extra watermelon and lemon slices for garnish on the glass

How to Make Easy Watermelon Lemonade

  1. In your blender, combine watermelon, water, and lemon juice.
  2. Add ½ cup granulated sugar.
  3. Blend for about 60 seconds, until smooth.
  4. Pour lemonade over ice, and garnish with a fresh watermelon chunk or lemon slice.

Suggestions and Alternatives

Make watermelon mint lemonade and other versions:

  • For a smooth drink without watermelon bits, put the blended drink into a fine-mesh strainer and remove any chunks.
  • Try adding some fresh mint leaves to the top of the drink to garnish.
  • Add fresh mint leaves into the pitcher for a watermelon mint lemonade flavor.
  • Add large chunks of chopped watermelon and lemon quarters into the pitcher for serving.
  • To make a slushie version of this drink, pour it into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, the watermelon lemonade ice cubes can then be blended to desired consistency.

FAQs

What Happens When You Mix Watermelon and Lemon?

If you’re wondering what fruits taste good with watermelon – lemon is one of my favorites. The combination of tart and sweet is deliciously refreshing, it’s one of the best combinations for drinks on a hot summer day.

What Other Drinks Can Be Made with Watermelon Juice?

Watermelon Lemonade is one of our favorite drinks for the summer months, but we also love our Watermelon Margarita for a special adults-only drink.

How Do I Store This Recipe?

Watermelon Lemonade is best served the same day, but if there is any leftover it can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Tips For Making This Recipe

  • Use a ripe watermelon to ensure a smooth blend.
  • A seedless watermelon is best for this drink, though if you cannot buy one, you can strain it before adding it to the blender.
  • For best results use a lemon juicer to extract juice from fresh lemons, rather than using a bottled version.

A fun way to serve watermelon in the summer is our watermelon dessert pizza.
