Bacon Ranch Chicken Crescent Rolls

Chicken, bacon and ranch flavors come together to make a rich creamy filling. It’s all tucked into buttery crescent roll dough and then baked into a festive golden-brown ring that’s warm and cheesy on the inside.

Once the Chicken Ranch Chicken Ring has finished baking in the oven, place a small glass or ceramic container of ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce in the center of the ring and watch while everyone digs in! Trust me, this is one recipe your kids will ask for time and time again!

If you love incredible ranch flavors, like in this Crack Dip Recipe or these Zesty Ranch Ritz Crackers, this recipe will definitely hit a home run. And the thing you’ll love the most is how quick and easy it all comes together. Shredded rotisserie chicken and canned crescent roll dough makes prep for this recipe a complete breeze.

Ingredients in Bacon Ranch Crescent Roll Recipe

ingredients in white bowls on counter: cheese, shredded chicken, seasonings, cream cheese, Ranch, scallions, chopped bacon and two rolls of crescents
  • Cream cheese spread – we used chive and onion flavor
  • Milk-mixes with the cream cheese to make a rich and creamy sauce
  • Chopped chicken – you can use deli rotisserie chicken. This is also a great way to use up leftover chicken breasts you may have on hand.
  • Ranch dressing mix – this gives the creamy chicken mixture that signature Ranch flavor
  • Bacon-crispy bacon strips chopped into small pieces
  • Crescent rolls- 2 cans original crescent rolls
  • Cheese-we used cheddar cheese (mild or sharp)
  • Green onions – they give the mixture a fresh herb flavor, but you can leave them out if you have picky eaters
  • Butter and garlic powder– this is brushed over the top of the ring to give it a nice garlicy golden-brown crust

How to Make this Chicken Crescent Roll Ring

ingredients in bowl; whisk with cream cheese and ranch; white cream cheese mixture poured on top of ingredients; chicken mixture stirred together
  • Heat oven to 375°F. Line large baking sheet with cooking parchment paper.
  • In large microwavable bowl, mix cream cheese spread, milk and ranch seasoning mix. Microwave uncovered on High 30 to 60 seconds or until heated slightly. Beat with whisk until smooth. Stir in chicken, cheese, bacon and 1/4 cup of the green onions.
  • Unroll both cans of dough; separate into 16 triangles. On large cookie sheet, arrange triangles in ring so short sides of triangles form a 5-inch circle in center. The dough will overlap and should look like a sun with the pointed edges being on the outside and the wide ends of dough connecting in the middle.
  • Spoon chicken mixture on half of each triangle closest to center of ring. Bring each dough triangle up over filling, tucking dough under bottom layer of dough to secure it. Repeat around ring until entire filling is enclosed (some filling might show a little). In small bowl, mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush on top of dough.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until dough is deep golden brown and thoroughly baked. Cool 10 minutes. Top with remaining 1/4 cup green onions. Drizzle with ranch dressing, if desired.

Can I Make this Recipe in Advance?

If you’re needing to make this recipe in advance, it’s recommended that you make the chicken filling up ahead of time but wait to make the ring until right before you’re ready to bake it.

This is because once the filling has been added to the ring, the dough will be fine for about an hour in the fridge. After that, the moisture in the chicken cheese mixture will start to break down the uncooked dough. This could result in the ring spreading to much while baking.

To save time, you can mix up all the ingredients in a large bowl then store them in an airtight container in the fridge until you’re ready to assemble the ring, or for up to a couple of days.

Variations of Chicken Crescent Ring:

Once you see what an easy recipe this is to make, change things up and make a new version with any of your favorite flavor combinations. Here are some of our favorites that you may like to try as well:

  • Tex-Mex- Instead of adding the ranch seasoning mix, add taco seasoning with Monterey jack cheese or a Mexican 3 Cheese Blend. Serve with sour cream in the center of the crescent dough ring for dipping.
  • Buffalo Chicken- Instead of the milk add the same amount of buffalo wing sauce. Sprinkle in some bleu cheese sprinkles for a really zesty twist. For extra heat you can add a little hot sauce to the cheese chicken mixture.
  • Chicken Cordon Bleu- Replace the bacon with chopped ham and the cheddar with Swiss cheese. In the center of the ring, place a small bowl of blue cheese dressing or creamy ranch for extra dipping.
  • Italian Chicken- Switch out the shredded cheese with mozzarella cheese. Instead of using ranch seasoning, you can use dry Italian dressing seasoning mix. Serve with marina for dipping.
  • Veggie Ring- You can make this recipe using all veggies. Steamed, broccoli and carrots, mushrooms, olives, even potatoes are all great options.
