Peanut Butter Cup S’mores Dip

This is an easy recipe and can hardly be called a recipe at all with just two ingredients. We’ve made s’mores dip with chocolate bars and marshmallows and love it and this version just adds a richness that throws it over the top.

What I love about this simple dessert is that it contains the classic peanut butter and chocolate combination with gooey marshmallow making a perfect dessert to satisfy any sweet tooth.

We love making new recipes from classic favorites.

Ingredients

white bowl of large marshmallows, white bowl with unwrapped mini reese's candies, black skillet
  • Reese’s peanut butter cups – use the minis for easier melting
  • Marshmallows
  • Graham crackers – for dipping

How to Make Peanut Butter S’mores Dip

four process photos in cast iron skillet: 1. layer of unwrapped reese's, 2. added two rows of marshmallows, 3. covered reese's with marshmallows, 4. after it's been cooked, golden marshmallows
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Unwrap all of the peanut butter cup candies
  • Next, place the candies on the bottom of an 8 or 9 inch cast iron skillet. (If using a regular pan, be sure to grease it with cooking spray.) It’s OK if some touch, but be careful to not stack too many pieces on top of one another or they won’t melt properly.
  • Add a single layer of marshmallows on top of the candy.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until marshmallows are golden brown on top.
  • Watch closely after 5 minutes … marshmallows can burn easily.
  • Remove from the oven and let your pan sit for about 5 minutes. The chocolate will continue to melt.
  • Serve immediately from the pan with graham crackers for dipping.

If using a cast iron pan, be sure to grab a pot holder for the handle of the pan. It’s easy to forget it gets hot!

You’ll need an ovenproof skillet like a castiron pan for this recipe. We like to use the cast iron because it retains the heat and keeps the dip warm while it’s being eaten. If you have a 12-inch cast-iron skillet, that’s fine, just place peanut butter cup candies to cover the bottom of the skillet and then fill the top with the marshmallows so there aren’t any gaps.

You can, however, use a pie dish, square baking dish, or any oven-safe dish that has sides.

Marshmallows

We like to use large marshmallows because of how they look when the come out of the oven, but some people like to use mini-marshmallows because they melt a little faster. Either way works fine. Just adjust your cooking time and take a peek every few minutes to make sure the mini marshmallows don’t burn – unless, of course you’re like me and like burnt marshmallows!

What Do I Dip into the S’mores Dip?

There are so many things you can use for dipping. Here are a few we love:

  • graham crackers – this makes it just like a campfire
  • vanilla wafer cookies
  • strawberries – so good with chocolate and peanut butter
  • pretzels and pretzel sticks
  • Animal crackers
  • Bananas
  • Sliced apples

How Do You Store Leftovers?

I’m sure you won’t have any of this dip leftover, but in case you do, you can simply put it in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator. Reheat in the microwave or oven before serving.

We think this is the perfect way to make s’mores – there’s no mess, it’s super simple, and it’s enough to serve a crowd! Why not make a batch tonight! It might just become your new favorite dessert.
