Sangria Jell-O Shots
Jello Shots are such a fun addition to any party table, but these red sangria jello shots are especially delightful because they are topped with whipped cream and the cutest little fruit slices. They’re great because you can also experiment with your own toppings, or you can make them into layered jello shots for an extra special flair.
Packed full of fruity flavors, these jello shots are perfect for summertime barbecues. I love Jello shot recipes when I’m hosting a party, and these Sangria Jello Shots are one of my favorite. I usually make a large batch ahead of time and garnish them with cream and toppings as I put them out. That way everyone can help themselves throughout the day and I don’t have to spend the entire day being a bartender.
These jello shots are a great adult-only boozy treat, but you can make kid-friendly versions by simply substituting the alcohol for water or fruit juice. For some other adult-only party drink why not try my Watermelon Rum Punch, a refreshing watermelon summer drink, or these Red Wine Ice Cream Floats for a sweet treat for dessert!

Suggestions and Alternatives
- Add sprinkles to your shots for some extra decoration!
- Try different types of red wine, rose, or even white wines for different flavorings.
- Make fruit salad jelly shots for an added burst of flavor by cutting up oranges, green grapes, apples, and maraschino cherries into small pieces and placing a few of them in each shot cup before adding the sangria jello mixture. If you do this, cut off the orange rind before adding it to the cups.
- Use raspberry jello or black cherry jello and berries to garnish instead of citrus fruits.
- Substitute cranberry juice in place of the wine, and orange juice instead of brandy for a mocktail version.
- Make Sangria Jello Shot Orange Slices: Cut oranges in half, scoop out the segments and place them in a muffin tin, cut side up. Place some chopped citrus fruit into the orange skin halves and add the sangria jello shot mixture on top. Chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours longer than the normal time. To serve, just cut the halves to make quarters and place them on a plate or serving tray.
- Using plastic condiment cups with lids makes for easy transportation if your drinks table isn’t in or near your kitchen.

Red wine, water, herbs, spices, and fruit are used to make traditional Spanish sangria. Today’s sangrias can contain a wide range of ingredients, and each recipe is unique. Modern additions include soda and brandy.

If you put too much alcohol in jello shots they won’t set properly, no matter how long you leave them in the refrigerator. Use the amounts specified and only substitute similar alcohol types. While this recipe uses wine and brandy, you can also make jello shots with whisky, vodka, rum or another liquor.
How Far Ahead Can You Make Jello Shots?

How Do I Store Jello Shots?
Jello shots will last in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, but if you are adding a garnish then wait until just before serving to do this.

- Orange Chunks optional

Notes
- I use an injector because it makes less of a mess and is quicker. However, using a pourable measuring cup works also.
- Do not leave these uncovered in the fridge if you plan on storing them. They will dry out if you do. It will take them a couple of days to dry out, so it’s ok if you don’t remember, but if you plan on storing them for a few days, be sure to cover them.
