Cinnamon Rolls With Apple Pie Filling

I enjoy apple and cinnamon flavored bakes throughout the year, including my super popular Apple Dumplings, but the classic combination is especially warm and cozy in the cooler months of fall and winter. This apple cinnamon bake is great for dessert, but it’s also great with coffee as a sweet snack, or for breakfast too!

These apple cinnamon rolls are made with a 2-ingredient recipe that it can be prepared the night before and baked the next day to serve fresh. You don’t need an electric mixer or even a rolling pin for this recipe, it’s so simple!

The can of cinnamon rolls also comes with the icing containers for the topping, which is an added bonus that makes a huge difference in cutting down prep time. It’s a great recipe to have on hand for a breakfast treat that takes little effort to prep and is ready to bake fresh on the morning of Thanksgiving or Christmas. Think of it as apple pie cinnamon rolls.

Another of my favorite make-ahead cozy fall breakfast recipes is my Apple Breakfast Casserole which is made with fresh apples, cinnamon, and ginger. My Apple Cider Bundt Cake should be on your list for dessert recipes to make this holiday season as it’s super easy, using two box mixes, but looks and tastes fantastic.

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until apples are soft.
  • Drizzle with frosting from the cinnamon roll canister.

Suggestions and Alternatives

  • Sprinkle some chopped nuts on the top before baking for a nutty crispy texture.
  • Cut cinnamon roll pieces and put them all in a casserole dish before the canned apple pie filling to make a deconstructed breakfast bake.
  • If the top is browning too quickly, but the insides are still uncooked, cover the dish with aluminum foil until the baking time is complete.
  • Add cinnamon sugar to the top before the frosting for extra cinnamon sweetness.
  • Top with fresh cream cheese frosting at the time of serving if you prefer.

Can I Make This Ahead of Time?

Yes! One of the best things about this easy dessert recipe is that you can make it the night before and cook it the next day. It’s the best way to have a decadent breakfast treat lined up for the morning of Thanksgiving or Christmas.

To do this, prepare the casserole as directed, then wrap it securely in plastic wrap before baking and store it in the refrigerator overnight. Cook the next morning and serve with the frosting on top of the warm apple cinnamon roll bake.

How Do I Store This?

This apple fritter cinnamon roll bake can keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days if stored in an airtight container or in a freezer plastic bag. The easiest way to keep leftovers from drying out when you reheat them is to wrap them in aluminum foil and bake them again in the oven.

How Do I Serve Cinnamon Roll Apple Bake?

Serve at room temperature, or warm as a snack with coffee or for breakfast, or with ice cream or whipped cream for dessert.
