🥄 How to Make Valentine’s Day Fudge
Step One: Make the Pink Layer
- Line a square pan (8×8) with parchment paper, extending the paper past the edges of the pan. This makes it easy to get the fudge out of the pan.
- Combine 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips, ½ of the sweetened condensed milk, and half of the salt in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each, until the mixture is melted and smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add 2-4 drops of red food coloring and mix until thoroughly incorporated. If you want a deeper pink color, continue adding a drop at a time and stirring until you reach your desired color.
- Spread the fudge mixture in an even layer in the bottom of the prepared pan and allow it to set for 30 minutes.
Step Two: Add the White Layer and Garnish
- Repeat the process with the remaining white chocolate chips to make a second layer, but do not add food coloring to this layer. Spread the white layer of fudge over the pink layer.
- Sprinkle the Valentine’s day sprinkles on top of the fudge, Using your hands, gently press the sprinkles into the fudge to make sure they stay in place.
- Allow the fudge to set for 2 hours, then cut into small squares.
Tips and Suggestions
- For an extra smooth and creamy texture, you can add a tablespoon or two of butter in with the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk when you microwave them.
- Be sure to get sweetened condensed milk and not evaporated milk or any other type. The fudge will not set properly with these substitutes.
Variations
- If you like nuts, you can stir in some chopped walnuts or pecans before putting the fudge in the pan.
- Add some conversation hearts in with your Valentine sprinkles for an extra cute and festive touch.
- Skip the food coloring and just make white fudge with plenty of pink and red sprinkles. You can also replace the white chocolate chips with dark chocolate if you prefer it.
- Instead of coloring the white chocolate with food coloring, you can use pink candy melts for the pink layer.
- Change the color of the fudge or the type of sprinkles for different holidays and events. You could do green for St. Patrick’s Day, pastels for Easter, orange for Halloween, or pick any colors you like.
