Malibu rum adds the boozy kick, and whipped creamed adds the perfect garnish, for a shot that’s guaranteed to be a big hit at your next summer party. It’s perfect for beach days, pool parties, or any time you want to have some fruity tropical fun!

  • Knox unflavored gelatin
  • Pineapple juice, divided
  • Cream of coconut
  • Malibu coconut rum
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Maraschino cherries for topping
  • Fresh pineapple chunks for garnish (optional)

Step One:  Make the Jello Mixture

One process of preparing Pina Colada Jello Shots is to add gelatin to pineapple juice.
  • Place the plastic shot cups on a shallow baking sheet.

  • Add 2 cups of pineapple juice to a medium saucepan and sprinkle in 2 packets of Knox gelatin. Whisk to combine.

  • Heat the Jello mixture over medium low heat until it starts to steam. Remove from the heat and whisk in 1 additional cup of pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and Malibu rum.

Step Two: Pour and Set

  • Divide the Jello mixture evenly between the shot cups. Move the shots to the refrigerator to chill for at least 4 hours. 
  • Before serving, top with whipped cream, fresh pineapple, and a maraschino cherry.

Tips and Suggestions

  • You can buy Jello shot cups with individual lids to make storage easier, but any plastic shot glasses or even condiment cups will work for these shots.
  • Start with chilled rum to help your shots set more quickly.

Variations

  • You can use coconut or pineapple vodka in place of the Malibu rum. Any white rum will also work, or you could even try  a banana flavored rum or vodka.

How Do I Store Pina Colada Jello Shots?
