  • With just a few simple ingredients, these are as easy to make as basic Jello shots. The only difference is that you pour them into ghost molds instead of plastic cups or shot glasses.
  • Leave out the alcohol and make the perfect snack or party treat for the kids.

How to Make Ghost Jello Shots

Step One: Prepare the Jello Mixture

First process in making Ghost Jello Shots is to mix all the ingredients into a bowl.
  • Set out your ghost molds on a tray or cookie sheet.
  • In a mixing bowl or a large measuring cup with a spout, add your Jello mix and 1 cup of boiling water.
  • Whisk until the Jello is completely dissolved.
  • Add 1/2 cup vodka to the Jello and whisk again.

Step Two:  Make the Ghost Shapes

Next step in preparing Ghost Jello Shots is to add the mixture into a mold.
  • Lightly spray the molds with non-stick cooking spray, then carefully pour the shot mixture into the molds.
  • Place the shots in the fridge for 3-4 hours or until they are set.
  • Remove the shots from the molds, then use a tiny paint brush and some black food coloring to paint on the eyes and mouths.
  • Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Tips and Suggestions

  • The ghost mold makes 8 shots, but a box of the Sonic green apple Jello will make more than 8 so if you want more, you could buy an additional mold or just make more of the Jello mixture after the first batch sets.
  • Be careful not to add too much alcohol or your shots will not set properly and form the cute ghost shapes.
  • To release the shots from the molds, gently pull the sides away from the bottom of the molds and then flip the mold and gently squeeze the back until they pop out.

Variations

  • You can use lime Jello in place of the green apple.
  • Try other fun Halloween Jello shots with a different mold or flavor of Jello. There are lots of cute options! You could use orange Jello and make pumpkins or try grape Jello for bats or witch hats.
  • Replace the vodka with ½ cup of water to make a non-alcoholic version for the kids.

How Do I Store Ghost Jello Shots?

Store your leftover shots in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Can I Use a Different Type of Alcohol?

Yes, you can substitute whiskey for the vodka if you’re using the green apple Jello, or try tequila if you’re using lime Jello.

Can I Make These Non-alcoholic?

Yes, just replace the alcohol with ginger ale.
