These pumpkin spice pudding shots are perfect for a fall gathering, Halloween party, or Thanksgiving when everyone is a little too full from dinner. These tiny treats pack a punch of pumpkin flavor and are so fun to eat.
They’re a fun and easy way to celebrate the fall season. Total time to make these no bake creamy pudding shots is just 20 minutes!
Ingredients
- 1 box (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 12 graham crackers
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/3 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/3 teaspoon clove
- 3 cups cold milk – we like to use whole milk for added creaminess
- whipped topping
- (for alcohol shots add 2 oz alcohol)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, using a hand-held electric mixer or a whisk together instant pudding mix and 3 cups milk until it becomes thick in texture.
- Whisk in the pumpkin puree, cinnamon, and clove.
- Spoon pumpkin mixture into shot glasses and top with whipped topping and sprinkle with cinnamon and top off with a graham cracker.
Suggestions and Alternatives
- Alcoholic pudding shots – If you would like to make these with alcohol add 2 oz of Bailey’s liqueur (they have a pumpkin spice version) to the mix. Another option is Rumchata (it’s rum and a Mexican drink horchata). There are also other pumpkin spice liqueur options. There is even a pumpkin pie vodka. Just use your favorite.
- Ziptop bag – use a piping bag or a plastic ziptop baggie and cut the corner off to pipe the pudding mixture into each shot glass for less mess.
- Graham cracker crumbs – crush the graham crackers and add them to the bottom fo the glass, and sprinkle some on top for garnish.
- Pumpkin pie spice – you can add a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice to the top of the whipped cream to make it taste even more like a pumpkin pie.
- Brown sugar – for added fun, sprinkle a bit of brown sugar on top of the whipped cream along with the cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.
Can I Make These Ahead of Time?
The holiday season can get busy so you may want to make these creamy pumpkin pie pudding shots ahead of time. After the pudding mixture is in the shot glasses, place all the glasses side-by-side on a baking sheet (rimmed) and cover with plastic wrap.
Add the whipped cream and toppings right before serving.
Where Do I Get Shot Glasses?
You can buy some inexpensive shot glasses from Amazon or a kitchen store. You can also purchase disposable plastic shot glasses from Amazon and most party stores like Party City. And most grocery stores have plastic shot cups.
What if I Don’t Have Shot Glasses?
A fun alternative to shot glasses are small mason jars. You can use 4 oz. mason jars without the lids for serving like we did with our no bake cheesecakes. You could also go big and use larger mason jars (16 oz.) and layer the pumpkin pudding and whipped cream to make a fun effect through the jar.
You can also use small cups. Just find a mixture of small cups in your house.
Can You Freeze Pumpkin Pie Shots?
Yes, you can make these ahead of time, without the whipped cream on top, and freeze them. When you take them out, you can let them rest at room temperature before serving. You can even serve frozen. Just top with whipped cream before serving.
These pumpkin pudding shots are always a huge hit. Kids love the non-alcoholic version and think it’s fun to eat out of a small glass, and adults enjoy this small tasty treat.
