Homemade Fudge Recipe Variations:
- Cherry Coke Fudge recipe: Next time, turn this recipe into decadent cherry fudge by adding chopped maraschino cherries. You’ll want to drain off all the maraschino cherry juice and dry them well with a paper towel. They have too much moisture and could affect the texture of the fudge. Mix them into the chocolate mixture and chill.
- Chocolate Chips: We used semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can use white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips or a combination of any of your favorites.
- Toppings: Change up the toppings and make it super festive by adding some holiday sprinkles or sanding sugar. You can also add a dusting of cocoa powder or some powdered sugar to the top of the walnuts to give it an extra special touch.
- Extracts: You can give this recipe several different, tasty flavors by swapping out the vanilla extract. Try adding a little bit of rum extract, mocha extract or butter extract.
- Peanut Butter Fudge: If you love peanut butter as much as we do, you can use 1/2 peanut butter chips and 1/2 semi-sweet chocolate chips to give it a great peanut butter flavor.
- Marshmallows: To give this recipe a rocky road twist, add in some mini marshmallows. Just make sure you wait to add them after you have added the coke mixture and stirred it a while to slightly cool it. This will keep the marshmallows from melting.
Can I Use Diet Coke Instead?
We used original Coca-Cola but if you have diet coke on hand, it will work just as well. You can also use Dr. Pepper for a really fun twist.
