Whisky Caramel and Pretzel Fudge
Who doesn’t love fudge?! This white chocolate fudge recipe is inspired by the Gardiners of Scotland Whiskey Fudge, but with a fun and crunchy twist. It combines creamy white chocolate, sweet chewy caramel pieces, crunchy pretzels and of course the perfect, subtle hint of whisky. It has the most amazing combination of flavors and textures that will have your taste buds coming back for more.
One of the great things about this easy fudge recipe is there is no standing over the stove with a candy thermometer. You just melt, mix and let it set up! A couple of my other favorite no-fuss fudge recipes is this Red Velvet Fudge that is ideal for Christmas or Valentine’s Day and this Candy Corn Fudge that the kids will flip over for Halloween!
But just wait until the you serve this whisky fudge to the adults at your next party! It is such a huge crowd pleaser that everyone will be begging for the recipe.

Easy Homemade Fudge Recipe Variations
- Chocolate Chips: We used white chocolate in this recipe. But you can use milk chocolate chips if you prefer. You can also use a combination of butterscotch chips and white chocolate chips for a tasty twist. Though dark chocolate is a favorite for many, it does not work well in this recipe.
- Kid-friendly version: This recipe does contain a small amount of whisky but if you’re wanting to make if for your kiddos, you can just leave it out or maybe use a little rum extract instead. It will still be delish!
- Nuts: Add even more crunch to you fudge by throwing in some chopped roasted pecans, peanuts or walnuts.
- Whisky: Because this recipe only uses a very small amount of whisky, you can use whatever brand you have on hand. You can even use bourbon, cognac, Kahlua or butterscotch flavored vodka.
- Toppings: Pretzels and caramel adorn the top in this fudge, but you can make it you own with any toppings of your choice. Something as simple as sea salt or fine kosher salt adds even more sweet/salty flavors. You can also make it extra festive by adding colorful sprinkles to the top of the fudge!
How Do I Store Caramel Chocolate Fudge?
The best way to store fudge is in an airtight container at room temperature. If you like fudge chilled or if you live in somewhere with warm climate, you can just keep it in the fridge for about a week or longer.
If you want to make this festive whisky fudge in advance, you can freeze it. Just wrap it well with plastic wrap, stick into a freezer bag and place in the freezer for up to 3 months.
How Do I Cut Fudge without Breaking it?
The dish is lined with parchment paper, which will help the fudge will turn loose from the sides of the pan easily. This makes slicing it a breeze. If the fudge is trying to crumble when you slice it, all you have to do is dip a sharp knife in hot water. Then wipe the knife dry, and then slice the fudge. The warmth should help glide it easily through the chocolate.
Does Whisky Fudge Have Alcohol in it?
Yes, it does. This recipe has a tablespoon of whisky, which means this sweet treat is just for the adults.
