Sugar Cookie Fudge Recipe

There’s something special about making a big batch of homemade fudge that just puts everyone in the Christmas spirit. I personally don’t think you can ever have too many holiday fudge recipes! This year I am adding Eggnog Fudge and this Hot Cocoa fudge to my candy making lineup. But with this recipe, what could say Christmas time any better than a rich and creamy white chocolate fudge with all the same delicious flavors of Christmas sugar cookies!

The great thing about this sugar cookie fudge is it’s a no bake recipe, which means there’s no standing over a hot pot of boiling chocolate mixture with a candy thermometer. It’s made using a few simple ingredients that you just mix, pour and decorate. It’s a fast, easy and dangerously decadent treat that is completely irresistible!

👩‍🍳 How to Make Christmas Sugar Cookie Fudge

Step One: Prepare the pan

  • Line an 8 x 8 square pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper, then grease it with some butter.

Note: If you want thinner slices of fudge, you can use a 9-inch pan instead.

Step Two: Heat the Milk and Add White Chocolate

  • Place sweetened condensed milk in a medium sauce pan and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until heated through.

Note: You do not want the milk to boil because it will scald. Just heat until nice and hot.

  • Add in the white chocolate chips and continue stirring until the chips are completely melted.

Step Four: Add Sugar Cookie Mix

  • Remove from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before cutting.
  • Cut the sugar cookie Christmas fudge into 16 small squares.

Note: To get clean edges, you may want to dip the knife in hot water then dry it off before cutting the fudge.

Delicious Sugar Cookie Fudge Variations:

  • Chocolate chips: White chocolate fudge looks pretty with the red and green jimmies, but if you prefer more of a classic chocolate fudge, you can use milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips. For another fun twist you can mix in some peanut butter chocolate chips with the white chocolate chips.
  • Sprinkles: We used red and green sprinkles with this delicious sugar cookie fudge, but you can also use holiday colored sanding sugar to add a little sparkle to your Christmas cookie trays or dessert table. You can use other colorful holiday candy like Christmas M&Ms or Reece’s pieces.
  • Nuts: A great way to add a little crunch to this decadent fudge is by mixing in some finely chopped pecans or walnuts. If adding nuts, just make sure you chop them up finely so that when you slice it into squares, you’ll get nice and smooth edges.
  • Flavors: This is such an easy fudge recipe with a pleasant vanilla cookie dough flavor. But you can make it your own by adding different extracts. Peppermint extract is a great choice for Christmas. You can also use a little bit of rum extract, almond extract, coconut extract or even butter extract.
  • Other add-ins: The great thing about this Christmas fudge recipe is you can add anything you’d like. You can add rice Krispie cereal, dried cranberries, coconut flakes or for really fun holiday treats, you can add in some mini marshmallows.

How do I Store Homemade Fudge?

For best results, store your creamy fudge in the fridge in an airtight container. It will stay fresh at room temperature for a few days or for at least a week in the fridge.

You can also freeze this fudge, which is an awesome way to have some on hand for those times when you need a last minute dessert.

To freeze, wrap the cooled fudge plastic wrap then a layer of foil. To thaw, just take out how much you need and let it thaw on the countertop, just until you’re able to cut it into squares.

Why Does My Melted Chocolate Seize?

If your chocolate looks clumpy and turns a dark yellow, that’s a sign it has seized. This is usually caused from moisture getting to it. White chocolate contains cocoa butter that easily burns so it’s a good idea to stay close when melting it.

Make sure you start out with a clean and very dry saucepan. If you’re using a double boiler, the bowl should not be sitting directly on the water.

Can I Make this Fudge in the Microwave?

I am all about a short cut, but when it comes to making fudge with white chocolate, you get the best results when you melt the chocolate in the warm sweetened condensed milk while you are constantly stirring it.

  1. Do you end up using the whole package of sugar cookie mix? The package I have, which is the same size as yours, contains twenty two 2.5 Tbsp servings, which is about 3.5 cups if I’m doing the math right. I ask because I used the whole package without measuring it out and I am nervous it will be way too dry.

    Hello,
I made the sugar cookie fudge, but it turned out gritty. What can I do with it now? Can I put it in a baked sugar cookie recipe? I hate to waste the ingredients? Please help 🥹

  3. I’m so sorry the fudge didn’t turn out the way you hoped. When fudge turns gritty, it usually means the sugar didn’t fully dissolve or it crystallized as it cooled. You can still try to make other treats from it! Here are a few ideas to help you salvage it and avoid tossing it out:

Warm it back up (I haven’t tested this): Try putting the fudge back in a saucepan with a splash of cream or evaporated milk, and heat gently while stirring constantly. This can help the sugar dissolve further. Once it’s smooth, pour it into a pan and let it reset.

Mix into cookie dough: crumble up the fudge and fold it into sugar cookie dough or even brownie batter. It’ll add little pockets of sweetness throughout!

I hope one of these ideas helps you enjoy your fudge in a new way. Thanks for giving the recipe a try.

  4. The sugar cookie mix pictured that I used contained 17.5 ounces. 2-1/2 cups was about half of the bag. You’ll need to measure the sugar cookie mix to get to the 2-1/2 cups – cookie and cake mixes have recently changed the ounces in their boxes/bags so be sure to use the measurement in the recipe instead of on the package.
