Peeps S’mores Dip
What a fun way to celebrate Easter. This is a great dessert for Easter – the kids thinks it’s super fun and I love how colorful it is. Plus, it couldn’t be easier to make. It just takes two ingredients and 10 minutes in the oven!
This is a great dish to bring to an Easter dinner – make it a special treat for the kids. Just prep it beforehand and cover the skillet. When you’re at your destination pop it in the oven for 10 minutes and you’ll be the hit of the gathering!
We love this way to make s’mores because it’s not messy. You should also try our S’mores tortilla hack. You could even put a Peep in it!
Ingredients
- Hershey chocolate bars
- Peeps – you can use any shape and color of Peeps that you want
- graham crackers and other items for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Next, break up the chocolate bars along the break lines and line them on the bottom of an 8 or 9 inch cast iron skillet. (If using a regular pan, be sure to grease it with cooking spray.) It’s OK if some overlap, but be careful to not stack too many pieces on top of one another or they won’t melt properly.
- Add a layer of Peeps on top of the chocolate pieces.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the Peeps are brown on top. (Watch closely after 5 minutes … the Peeps can burn easily. )
- Remove from the oven and let the dip sit in the skillet for about 5 minutes. The chocolate will continue to melt.
- Serve immediately from the pan with graham crackers for dipping.
Substitutions/Additions
- Chocolate chips – If you go this route, be sure you use a high-quality chocolate chip because it melts better.
- White chocolate – try white chocolate, or a mixture of white and dark chocolate.
- Use candy – try replacing the chocolate with candy like Reese’s or Butterfinger as the base
TIPS AND TRICKS
- If you do not have a cast iron pan you can cook it in a regular baking dish. I prefer the cast iron pan because it helps retain the heat and keep the dip from cooling off to fast.
- This s’more recipe is perfect if you are trying to feed a crowd! I love making this dip with a bunch of different dipping options on a platter and let people dip away. This is definitely a party favorite!
What Should I Dip Into the Peeps Dip?
- graham crackers
- strawberries
- bananas
- apples
- pretzels
- Animal crackers
Can You Make This Dip Ahead?
If you want to make this dip ahead, you can. Just place the chocolate in the pan with the Peeps on top. Cover and place in the refrigerator until you’re ready to cook it. The Peeps won’t melt as smoothly since they’ll have been refrigerated, but it can still work.
Do I Need to Use a Cast Iron Skillet?
The cast iron skillet helps keep your s’mores dip warm which allows you to enjoy it even longer without the chocolate hardening.
