These frozen grapes with hello are the perfect easy and fun treat that the whole family will love. Fresh grapes are coated in sweet and fruity Jello powder and placed in the freezer to turn an ordinary fruit into a tasty frozen dessert!
I don’t know what it is about frozen grapes that makes them so much better than regular grapes, but we can’t get enough of them in our house, and we always keep some in the freezer for a quick snack. These Jello sugar grapes are even better than the plain variety. They’re coated in Jello powder prior to freezing, giving them an extra delicious burst of fruity Jello flavor, and a fun pop of color too.
Kids love these delicious treats, because the sugar coating is similar to Sour Patch Kids, and I love that they’re a more nutritious option than popsicles or candy. You could even call them Sour Patch grapes. They’re also super quick and easy to make, and you can use any variety of Jello that you like.
But don’t make the mistake of thinking these are just for kids. Once you try them, you’ll be hooked too! Be sure to make a big batch, and you’ll have a convenient and delicious snack that the whole family can enjoy all summer long.

How to Make Jello Sugar Grapes
It just takes a few easy steps to make this perfect sweet treat.
Step One: Prepare the Grapes
- Remove all the grapes from the stems and place them in a colander. Rinse well, then shake off excess water.
- Fill one bowl with red grapes and another bowl with green. Fill each bowl to the top with water. Keep the grapes submerged in water until you’re ready to roll them in the Jello powder.
- Pour the strawberry Jello powder on a small dish and the green apple Jello powder on a second dish. You can also use small bowls for this.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Make sure your baking sheet is small enough to fit inside your freezer.
Step Two: Dip and Freeze
- Take 5-6 grapes from the bowl of water and place them in the Jello powder. Do not shake off the excess water. Roll the wet grapes around in the powder until they are well coated
- Use toothpicks, spoons, or tongs to remove the grapes from the powder and place them on the parchment lined baking sheet in a single layer. Gently shake the excess powder from the grapes after coating.
- Repeat this process with the remaining grapes until all have been coated or until you run out of Jello powder.
- Place the grapes in the freezer for 2 hours.
- After 2 hours, you can move the grapes to a freezer storage bag, and store them frozen until ready to serve.
Tips and Suggestions
- For an easy way to wash your grapes thoroughly, mix 1 part vinegar with 3 parts water in a bowl. Place the grapes into the bowl and let them sit for a few minutes, then remove and rinse.
- For another easy way to coat the grapes, you can place them in a Ziploc bag with the Jello powder. Seal and shake the bag until the grapes are well coated.
- As they thaw, the Jello colors may begin to mix, so be sure to keep your grapes frozen.
Variations
- Different flavors of jello – You can use any flavor of Jello you like for these fun frozen treats. They all taste great!
- Choose any kind of grapes for this recipe. You can use a combination of red, black, or green grapes, or you can use all one color if you prefer. Cotton candy grapes would also be especially delicious in this recipe.
- Place a few grapes on a wooden skewer or toothpick before freezing to make a popsicle-like treat.
- Rainbow grapes – use all the colors (flavors) of jello to make a rainbow.
How Do I Store Jello Sugar Grapes?
Keep these frozen until ready to serve. You can store them in an airtight container, Ziploc bag, or freezer bag.
Can I Use Grapes with Seeds?
I wouldn’t recommend it. Once the grapes are frozen, it will be difficult to remove the seeds, so it’s much easier to just buy the seedless variety.
Can I Use Sugar Free Jello?
Sure – for the same fun treat without the added sugar, you can use any variety of sugar-free Jello.
