How to Make Cheddar Bay Air Fryer Biscuits
Step One: Make the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and garlic.
- Cut the stick of butter in small pea size cubes.
- Using a stand mixer or blender, mix the butter into the dry flour mixture until butter crumble forms.
- Stir in cheese and parsley.
- Using your hands or stirring paddle for stand mixer, combine in the buttermilk.
Step Two: Form the Biscuits
- Don’t over knead the batter; you want it firm enough to form into a mound but not too firm. If the dough is a little bit sticky, add another tablespoon of flour.
Step Four: Add to the Air Fryer
- Coat air fryer basket bottom with oil or use a cooking spray suitable for air fryers. Using an ice cream scooper, spoon out a clump of batter and place in air fryer basket. Make sure you mound biscuit dough in a single layer so they will cook evenly.
- Repeat to fill your basket. You may have to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Step Five: Cook the Biscuits and Serve
- Spray biscuit with non stick spray or brush with some melted garlic butter. Cook on 380 degrees f for 5 minutes. Turn and cook for 2 more minutes. The cook time may vary slightly depending on the air fryer brands.
- Remove from the air fryer and brush all the biscuits with a few tablespoons of melted butter.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a couple of days. Reheat for about 15 seconds in the microwave.
Red Lobster Biscuits Variations and Add-ins
Seasonings: You can add all sort of flavors to the dough, and the melted butter you brush on top of the biscuits. Italian seasoning, dry ranch seasoning and Old Bay seasoning are all popular choices. For a little added heat, you can add red pepper flakes or a little bit of cayenne pepper.
Type of cheese: We like to use sharp cheddar, but you can use mild cheddar, pepper jack or colby. You just want a semi-firm cheese that will melt but not make the biscuits mushy like super soft cheese will.
Flour: If you don’t have all-purpose flour, you can also use Bisquick biscuit mix to make this recipe. You’ll need to omit the salt and the leavening agents since the mix already has them included.
Other add-in’s: Bacon bits, cooked ground breakfast sausage, finely chopped green onions and fresh herbs are a great way to add more savory flavors to these biscuits.
Can I Freeze Leftover Homemade Biscuits?
You sure can. All you have to do is place the leftovers on a baking sheet and cover them with plastic wrap. Transfer them to the freezer for about an hour until they firm up. Then just place them in a large freezer bag and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months
Can I Bake These Homemade Air Fryer Biscuits in the Oven?
Absolutely! Make the dough according to the same directions. Scoop out the dough using an ice cream scoop onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the biscuits for about 12 minutes in a preheated 475 degrees F oven.
