Ingredients

How to Make Jello Rollups
Step One: Make the Jello Mixture
- Spray an 8×8 pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
- Place the Jello mix in a microwave safe bowl and add the hot water. Whisk gently until the Jello is dissolved.
- Add the marshmallows to the Jello mixture and microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Remove and whisk until no lumps remain.
Step Two: Form and Slice the Rolls
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and place it in the fridge for 2 hours or until set.
- To remove, gently pull up one corner and slowly peel it out from the edges of the pan.
- Roll into a tight tube as you would a cinnamon roll. Place it back in the pan and refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
- Remove the roll from the fridge and place it seam side down. Slice it into ½ inch slices using a sharp knife. Note: Do not saw back and forth when slicing, but try to make just one cut straight down.
Tips and Suggestions
- For best results, do not leave your Jello sheet in the fridge for too long. If it dries too much, it won’t roll up as well.
- Do not overcook the marshmallows or they will dissolve too much and they won’t leave the white film on top. The white film is what gives the rolls their pretty pinwheel appearance when they’re finished.
- It may take a couple of tries to roll the sheet up before you can get it tight enough. Also don’t worry if the middle of the roll is a bit thicker than the ends – this is normal.
- Use parchment paper – you can lay parchment paper or wax paper on the bottom of the pan for easy removal
- Butter knife – use a butter knife to loosen the edges
- Dental floss – as an alternative to the knife to slice the rolls, you can use dental floss to “cut” the jelly rollup into small pieces.
Variations
- Change the kind of Jello to make different color and flavor varieties of this sweet treat. Note: This recipe makes just one color. If you want multiple colors, you’ll need to make a second batch with a different flavor of Jello.
- You can make the slices as big or small as you want. Just keep in mind that the size you cut them will determine how many you can get out of the recipe.
- Unroll just a tiny bit of each roll, then set the roll on its narrow side and place a pair of candy eyes on the top. The rolls will look like monster tongues!
How Do I Store Jello Rollups?
Store your rollups in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Can I Freeze Jello Rollups?
I wouldn’t recommend it. Freezing tends to alter the texture of the Jello.
What if My Rolls Start to Unravel?
If you’ve rolled them as tightly as possible and they are still unraveling, you can use a toothpick to hold them in place.
