How to Make Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Potatoes

Here are my step-by-step instructions on how to make these easy parmesan potatoes in the air fryer.

Step One: Prepare the Potatoes.

  1. Wash and dry the potatoes, then cut each one in half and set aside.
  2. Mix together oil, melted butter, salt, black pepper powder, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and parmesan in a large bowl.
  3. Place potatoes into the seasoning mixture and stir until well combined.

Now you’re ready to bake the potatoes in the air fryer.

  1. Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 180 degrees C or 350 degrees F. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper and arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the basket.
  2. Cook for 10 minutes, then toss potatoes and continue cooking for another 5-8 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
  3. Sprinkle parmesan and chopped cilantro (optional) over the potatoes just before serving. Serve hot with ketchup or mayonnaise.

What Are the Best Types of Potatoes For This Recipe?

Baby potatoes (gold or red) are the best choice for parmesan potatoes. The small size allows for quicker cooking and crispier edges. Because they have a thin skin, no peeling is required and they have a creamy interior with a slightly crispy exterior.

Tips and Suggestions

These tips will help your recipe turn out perfect.

  • Cut potatoes – Be sure to cut the potatoes into similar size pieces so they cook evenly. If some are larger than others, they may not all be thoroughly cooked and crispy.
  • Dry potatoes – ensure potatoes are fully dried before cooking to achieve the desired crispiness.
  • Serve immediately – For best results, serve these potatoes straight out of the air fryer. If you need to keep them warm before serving, you can place them in a preheated oven at around 200°F for up to 15 minutes, but try not to leave them in any longer than that or they may become soggy.
  • Spray the air fryer basket – spray with a little cooking spray to prevent the potatoes from sticking.

Variations

There are so many ways you can change up these potatoes. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Add truffle seasoning – Mix some truffle seasoning in with the rest of the spices. The truffle flavor pairs perfectly with the parmesan cheese.
  • Purple or red potatoes – Use baby purple or red potatoes to give the dish more color, or you can use regular sized russet potatoes instead of small potatoes, and cut them into wedges or strips.
  • Add more cheese – If you like extra cheese, try topping with some shredded mozzarella in addition to the parmesan.
  • Fresh herbs – Top with fresh herbs like basil, cilantro, or fresh parsley for some extra color and flavor.
