Update:
When I first wrote this blog post about the best Christmas tree stand, we were using the Swivel Straight tree stand. One year, after Christmas, we didn’t take care of it and left it outside — alone in the elements — for months.
I know, bad.
It didn’t make it (through no fault of its own) and we couldn’t find an exact replacement the following year. However, now we’ve found it again on Amazon! Hooray! The Christmas tree stand in the video is the replacement version we found. BOTH Christmas tree stands are great and a must for sane Christmas tree decorating! Affiliate links are used in this post. If you make a purchase, we receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Thanks!
And, be sure when you buy a tree stand, to look at the size tree it holds. The stand you find from any of the links in this post might not be the size you need. Just click around on the website to find exactly what you are looking for.
Here’s the original post:
The other night as we were putting up our Christmas tree I was reminded of the best 50 bucks we’ve spent in years (over the years it’s been as low as $39.99)” on the Swivel Straight Christmas Tree Stand. Truly a life (um, marriage) saver when it comes to putting up your tree. Here’s how it works “ There’s an oval piece of the base that is not attached” you screw that onto the bottom of the tree trunk, then you put the tree (with the oval piece) into the base on the floor. At this point it may be crooked. Don’t fret. Now, just hold the top of your tree with one hand, put your foot on the pedal located on the base of the unit and rotate/tilt/move the tree to the desired position. Let go of the pedal. Viola! You’ve got one straight tree — without all the swearing!
Since we purchased this stand several years ago we have never had a crooked tree — or an argument. Friends, if you want to make this Christmas easier go out and buy this Christmas tree stand. It’s available via Amazon Prime.

We got this tree stand years ago after you recommended it to us. We LOVE it! We get a 9-10 foot tree every year and the tree stands up straight, no problem every time. It’s very stable too. We just bring the base to the tree lot with us and they trim the stump down so it fits. Definitely well worth the money!

I have one of these stands and love that I can get it straight in stand. Our only problem is that our stand doesn’t seen to have the spikes to keep the tree from moving in the stand, it had a plus bar. Do you have to get the tree bottom cut in a plus so that it won’t slide?
