My rich and saucy Meatballs with Grape Jelly and Chili Sauce are unbelievably easy to make in the crockpot with just three ingredients. I swap the usual BBQ sauce for classic chili sauce, which gives the sweetness a deeper, tangier flavor everyone loves. These simple and delicious meatballs are the ultimate appetizer for parties, holidays, and game day snacks.

Grape Jelly and Chili Sauce Meatballs
I made these grape jelly and chili sauce meatballs for a holiday get‑together years ago, and they’ve been a go‑to appetizer in my house ever since. Most people use BBQ sauce, but I use chili sauce and a little Worcestershire sauce instead. This small adjustment creates a richer sweet and savory sauce people immediately notice.
Without fail, every time I serve them, someone calls them the best meatballs they’ve ever had. They’re perfect for parties, but my family even loves to spoon them over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes for an easy dinner.
Why My Crockpot Grape Jelly Meatballs Recipe is the Best
- Easy from start to finish – I keep things simple by using frozen meatballs, perfect for busy days and last-minute parties and gatherings.
- Balanced sweet and savory flavors – Using chili sauce instead of BBQ keeps the sweetness in check and gives the sauce a more rounded flavor that people notice right away.
- Perfect consistency – The ratio of jelly to chili sauce melts down smoothly and coats the meatballs in an even, glossy glaze.

- Stir them – Stir once halfway through cooking so the sauce coats evenly.

- Let them sit – Let the meatballs sit on warm for a few minutes before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.
FAQs
You can prepare them a day in advance and reheat in the slow cooker before serving.
You can simmer the meatballs and sauce in a saucepan over low heat until warmed through. Don’t walk away though. The sugar in the jelly can burn easily over direct heat.
You can use homemade meatballs if you prefer. Just make sure they are fully cooked before adding them to the sauce.
Storage Instructions
- Refrigerate – Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to four days.
- Freeze – Freeze cooled meatballs and sauce for up to three months in a sealed container.
- Reheat – Warm gently in the slow cooker, saucepan, or microwave until heated through, adding a splash of water if the sauce thickens too much.
