Disney Cruise Pirate Night Ideas and Tips

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a fun time that everyone can join in on, but you need a pirate costume! We’ll answer all of your pirate night questions here to make sure you’re all set before you leave for your cruise!

Each Disney Cruise has a pirate night – a themed evening where guests dress up as Pirates. There’s a big party on deck with fireworks and it’s really exciting. This is a party not to be missed.

What is Disney Cruise Pirate Night?

Select Disney cruises that travel to the Caribbean have a special evening designated, Pirate Night. It’s a huge event where everyone gets dressed up as pirates for the evening meal, and in the evening on deck, there’s a huge party with fireworks and a late-night dance party.

At dinner, your menu will look like a treasure map, and the food will have pirate-themed names. Your servers will all be dressed up.

There are also meet-and-greet opportunities where the Disney characters are also in Pirate costumes.

A note if you have young kids, they may not be able to stay up for the whole pirate party, so just enjoy what you can and don’t sweat it.

Do Adults Dress Up for Pirate Night on Disney Cruise?

Yes! I’m so glad I brought a costume because the majority of people, kids AND adults, were dressed for pirate night. Everything from just a hat, to all out makeup and over-the-top costumes.

I highly recommend packing costumes for the entire family. You can always change your mind, but it’s hard to find things to wear if you don’t bring it with you! And, it’s super expensive to buy kid’s Pirate stuff on the ship if they see everyone else in pirate gear and suddenly decide to participate.

What to Wear for Disney Cruise Pirate Night

In your cabin, everyone received a free Pirates of the Caribbean red bandana to wear for the day and evening. So, if you forgot your outfit, or decided not to bring anything, at least each passenger has something to wear that’s pirate-themed.
Anything goes on this night. Some people wear full Pirate costumes, while others wear pirate t-shirts, and still others just dress like they normally would.

My suggestion is to make a costume or bring a few supplies so you’ll feel like a Pirate for the night, but you don’t have to bring an expensive Pirate costume from a costume shop.

Disney Pirate Night Ideas

If you’re adventurous, dress up your entire outfit as a pirate! It’s a lot of fun and you’ll have a great time!

Here’s what I did with my family when we went on a Disney cruise:

I bought pirate bandanas on Amazon that worked great. Each person wore this and it really dress up even a plain outfit!

I also got a set of black eye patches for us to wear. This pack is really inexpensive and gives you 12 eye patches so you can share with friends you make on the ship.

For my daughter and me, I added red sashes. You can buy them on Amazon, or just I keep it simple like I did. Just get some red fabric from the craft store, and cut it to look like a pirate sash. Tie it around your waist and pair it with pants/skirt and long boots.

If you don’t have boots, don’t worry. You can wear any type of shoe, but also be sure to try the thrift store before you go on your trip.

• Wear jeans, a white top, bandana, and an eye patch
• Wear a pirate-theme t-shirt
• Vest
• Black skinny pants or a skirt
• Black boots
• Big gold hoop earrings
• Chunky bangle bracelets
• White powdery face makeup and thick black eyeliner

Is There a Pirate Night on Every Disney Cruise?

Not on all Disney cruises have pirate night, but on most Disney cruises you’ll have one. Be sure to check your itinerary and schedule from the cruise line before you go, and you’ll know exactly what night to plan for.
