Equipment

  • Baking trays
  • Parchment paper
  • double boiler
  • Small piping bag
  • Wilton #3 tip

Ingredients

  • 20 Double Stuf Oreo cookies
  • 15 ounces dark chocolate melting wafers we used Ghirardelli
  • ¾ cup black candy melts for the antlers (I used Melt ‘Ems brand)
  • 40 black sugar pearls for the eyes
  • 40 pieces brown and red M&Ms for the nose

Instructions

  • Line two baking trays with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Melt the black candy melts in a double boiler over low heat or in a bowl in the microwave on a low or defrost setting in 30 second increments. Stir often to allow even heating and to avoid the melts from seizing.
    ¾ cup black candy melts
  • Once melted, allow the black candy melts to cool for 2-3 minutes before pouring into a small piping bag fitted with a Wilton #3 tip. If you do not have a tip, you can use it without the tip and just snip a tiny piece off the end of the piping bag once it has cooled down for a few minutes.
  • On one of the prepared baking trays, pipe small antlers by piping two letter ‘V’s on top of each other with a line down the center connecting them. You can also opt to create your own antler design. Try to keep them uniform and between 1 inch to 1 ¼ inch in length.
  • Remember, if the candy melts are too hot, it will come out too fast. Make sure it has cooled down for a few minutes before piping. Set aside and allow the antlers to harden.
  • Melt the dark chocolate melting wafers in a double boiler over low heat or in a bowl in the microwave on a low or defrost setting in 30 second increments, stirring often to allow even heating.
15 ounces dark chocolate melting wafers
  • Dip one oreo at a time into the melted dark chocolate and lift it out with a fork. Tap the fork against the edge of the double boiler or bowl to remove any excess coating. Place the coated oreo onto the other prepared baking tray. Repeat coating 2-3 more oreos and place on the tray.
    20 Double Stuf Oreo cookies
  • Once you have 3-4 oreos coated, place two eyes onto each one and then place one M&M for the nose onto each one. It’s best to start on the face and work in batches. Move quickly before the chocolate sets and then add the antlers onto them. (Before placing on the antlers, the chocolate cannot be too melted otherwise the antlers will slide off.)
40 black sugar pearls, 40 pieces brown and red M&Ms
  • Repeat with the rest of the Oreos, working in small batches. Then allow the reindeer oreos to set completely for at least 15 minutes. You can place the baking tray into the refrigerator to set faster if desired. Enjoy!
