Apple Cider Donuts

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup apple sauce
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons boiled cider or use more apple sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • *Coating:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Grease 2 standard donut pans, and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients. Set aside.
    2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine all of the wet ingredients.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until combined.
    1 cup apple sauce, 1/3 cup melted butter, 3 eggs, 4 tablespoons boiled cider, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Using a spoon, distribute the batter between the greased donut pans.
  • Bake 25 minutes.
  • After about a minute, carefully loosen the donuts from the pan and move to a cooling rack.
  • Mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the coating in a large sealable bag.

  • One at a time gently, shake and roll around each donut (while still warm but no longer fragile).
