Preheat your air fryer to 375°F for about 5 minutes. Set out three bowls.
In the first bowl, mix the flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon paprika, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon pepper
In second bowl, beat the eggs and milk (make sure the bowl is deep enough so that the onions can be fully submerged).
2 eggs, ¼ cup milk
In the third bowl, mix the Panko breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. (Leave parmesan out if not using.)
1 cup Italian-style Panko breadcrumbs, ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Take an onion ring and coat it in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
1 large yellow onion
Then dip it into the egg and milk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
Finally, coat it evenly with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat with the remaining onion rings.
Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the coated onion rings in a double layer, it’s ok if they’re slightly overlapping. Spray the tops of the onion rings with a light coat of cooking spray.
Air fry the onion rings in batches, if necessary, for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown and crispy. Be sure to keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
Once done, transfer the crispy onion rings to a serving plate and serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, or ketchup.
