Ingredients

  • 3 cod fillets
  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 Tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ½ Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

Prep the Cod:

  • Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel to help them sear properly.

  • Evenly season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Sear the Cod:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Let it warm up for 1-2 minutes until shimmering.

  • Carefully place the cod fillets in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and flaky. Tip: Avoid moving the fish too much—this helps create a nice crust. Be careful not to overcook.
  • Remove the cod from the skillet and transfer to a serving plate.

Make the Lemon Butter Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low and add the butter.
    4 Tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Once melted, stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Let it warm for about 30 seconds, then remove from heat.
    ¼ cup fresh lemon juice

Serve:

  • Drizzle the warm lemon butter sauce over the cod fillets.
  • Garnish with extra parsley or lemon slices for a fresh touch.
