- 3 cod fillets
- 3 Tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 Tablespoon unsalted butter
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 ½ Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Prep the Cod:
Pat the cod fillets dry with a paper towel to help them sear properly.
3 cod fillets
Evenly season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Sear the Cod:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Let it warm up for 1-2 minutes until shimmering.
3 Tablespoons olive oil
Carefully place the cod fillets in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and flaky. Tip: Avoid moving the fish too much—this helps create a nice crust. Be careful not to overcook.
Remove the cod from the skillet and transfer to a serving plate.
Make the Lemon Butter Sauce:
In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low and add the butter.
4 Tablespoon unsalted butter
Once melted, stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Let it warm for about 30 seconds, then remove from heat.
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
Serve:
Drizzle the warm lemon butter sauce over the cod fillets.
Garnish with extra parsley or lemon slices for a fresh touch.
1 ½ Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
