Instructions
Prepare The Pan
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Spread the pretzels out in an even layer on the baking sheet and set aside.
8 ounces small pretzels
Make the butter toffee sauce
Add the butter and brown sugar to a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture is fully melted and comes to a gentle boil.
1 cup salted butter, 1 cup packed brown sugar
Stir constantly while boiling the butter and sugar to prevent scorching.
Continue stirring and allow it to boil for 1 minute.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
Coat the pretzels
Carefully pour the hot brown sugar mixture over the pretzels. Use a spatula to gently toss and coat the pretzels as evenly as possible.
Work quickly when pouring the mixture over the pretzels since it thickens fast.
Sprinkle half of the toffee pieces over the top.
0.5 cup toffee pieces
Bake
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbly. Finish and cool the top.
Allow the pretzels to cool fully before breaking them apart for the best texture.
Remove the pretzels from the oven and immediately sprinkle the remaining toffee pieces over.
0.5 cup toffee pieces
Let the pretzels cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break them apart and serve.
If you can’t find toffee pieces, buy the mini Heath bars, unwrap them, and place them in a zip-top bag, and use a mallet or rolling pin to crush them into small pieces.
Notes
Storage: Store butter toffee pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Avoid refrigeration, which can make them sticky.Variations:
