Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil divided
  • 1 ½ pounds steak sliced against the grain into strips
  • 1 red bell pepper chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 1 orange bell pepper chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 1 medium white onion chopped into bite-size pieces
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

For the Sauce:

  • cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ginger minced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak and cook for 5-6 minutes until browned. Remove steak to a plate.

  • Add remaining vegetable oil to the skillet. Add peppers and onions and cook for 3-4 minutes or until tender.

  • Add cooked steak back into the skillet.
  • Whisk together the soy sauce, chicken broth, rice vinegar, garlic, black pepper, ginger, brown sugar, sesame oil, and cornstarch in a mixing bowl. Pour sauce into the skillet.

  • Bring to a simmer and cook for 4-5 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve over rice and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Enjoy!
