Equipment

  • Baking trays
  • Parchment paper
  • double boiler or microwave
  • Small piping bag

Ingredients

  • 12.2 ounces Red Velvet Oreos 1 package
  • 10 ounces light green candy melts
  • heart sprinkles
  • dark green sanding sugar optional

Instructions

  • Line two baking trays with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Set aside ½ cup of light green candy melts to use for the drizzle. Melt the remaining amount in a double boiler over low heat, stirring every 30 seconds until fully melted and smooth. You can alternatively melt them in the microwave on 50% power in 30 second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth.
  • Use a fork to dip one Oreo cookie into the melted chocolate and coat it completely. Lift the cookie out and gently tap the fork against the edge of the double boiler or bowl to remove the excess coating. Place coated cookie onto the prepared baking sheet and repeat with the remaining Oreos.
  • Place ½ cup of light green candy melts into a microwave-safe piping bag, twist it shut, and then microwave it on a low until fully melted and smooth. Massage the bag every 1-2 minutes to ensure the candy melts are melting evenly.
  • Once melted, snip a small piece of the tip off of the piping bag. Drizzle over the Oreo in back and forth motion and top it with a red heart sprinkle. You can also add some green sanding sugar if desired. Be sure to move quickly before the chocolate sets.
  • Allow the drizzle to set completely before serving. You may place the Oreos in the refrigerator to help the coating set faster.

Notes

Using a double boiler or a candy melts melting pot will help keep the melts at a proper temperature, making it easier to get a nice even coating. If using the microwave method, you may want to work in batches and not heat up all the candy melts at once. The longer it sits out, it will thicken. Be sure to read the instructions on the back of the candy melts package for any reheating tips.
