So often I have good intentions to do something nice for others. It may be to make a meal for someone who just had a baby, to send a sympathy card, or mail out birthday cards and presents. I think of these good deeds all the time, but I don’t always follow-through. Too bad my friends and family don’t know of my intentions.
This weekend we had friends that took action to do something nice for us (thanks Ryans!). It’s one of those things that I might have thought of, but probably wouldn’t have been able to get my stuff together to do it.
My husband and I have been caring for his ailing mother, driving 4 hours each way during the weekends to assist where we can. It’s a stressful time. Our friends called to ask what they can do to help and offered for our son to come to their house to have a playdate with their daughter.
Amazing is all I can think to say about this offer. It it something that came at the right time. My husband and I dropped off our son at his friends house (they had a great time playing together) and we went to a movie. It was a great afternoon and something that was unexpected.
The next time I have good intentions I’ll try to remember being the recipient of kindness and follow-through. It might be the difference for someone else!
