I plan on getting the book as soon as we know when surgery will be. I, too, believed that if she had it Thursday/Friday she’d be back to school early in the week! Thanks for giving me the heads up that it’s probably going to be about a week or so.

Knowing that a child much younger did this successfully, and with a parent having the same worries as I do, it makes it a little easier!

Leslie: I hope your little one does well. It’s harder on the parents! I’m glad the post was helpful. When my daughter had the same surgery she didn’t react to the anesthesia like my son did so it went much better. Both times it was worth it because they were so much healthier after the surgeries!

I didn’t do it too early, probably a few days at most. We didn’t want to give them time to worry. We did the cake the night before.

My son didn’t have any sensitivity to noises afterward – except that he could hear better! Since this post, my daughter also had this surgery. Luckily her response to the anesthesia was much better that what I wrote about here. She didn’t have quite the reaction my son had! Good luck next week with your 4-year-old. The tubes were one of the best things we did for both of them — the literally stopped getting sick!
