I love the “Who Was,” and “What Was,” books. They are awesome chapter books teaching kids about famous people and times in history. The first one my son read was “Who Was Walt Disney?” What a great read that was. We learned (yes, WE learned) how hard Walt worked to create his magical land of Disney World. We learned about his family life and his business.
Now my son is reading “What Was the First Thanksgiving?” It’s a title he chose from his school’s book fair this year. How could I not buy this book?
Did you know the first Thanksgiving feast lasted three days? Neither did I. This book includes black and white illustrations as well as some photos in the middle of the book
It’s perfect to read right now as we gear up for our Thanksgiving holiday. He’ll fully understand the reason we celebrate.
Last year I wrote about a picture book that I also love, “Thanksgiving Day.” It’s similar in nature to this What Was book, but is meant for younger readers. We still love it and read it this time of year also.
