A few weeks ago, my son had the day off school and I worked from home that day. During my lunch break I decided that we both needed to get out of the house for a bit so we drove to the downtown Orlando park at Lake Eola. It was an amazing and beautiful day — wish we could have stayed all day!
When we were about to leave, my son asked to go to the little bridge so we walked over to a small pond and crossed the bridge to find a beautiful white swan basking in the sun.
Nearby, there were two swans with black heads. They were swimming near each other without a care in the world, it seemed.
Then, we hit the motherlode … there was a NEST! Papa swan came waddling under the bridge, headed to take over the nesting for the mama swan. Gotta keep those childrens warm.
It’s not the best photo, but you get the picture … one swan is leaving to go do something, while the other swan is getting ready to sit on those eggs. To protect its young. It was such a sweet and symbolic changing of the guards. We counted 6 BIG eggs in that nest. We’ll have to go back to see when they hatch.
Just goes to show that I need to get out more. When I do, there’s a ton I see!

Those eggs are amazing! I hope they make it! What a neat thing that there would be little baby swans swimming around!

Ahhh it’s still cold in NY and I don’t think that the ducks are even considering mating yet. I can’t wait until spring.
