Yes. Food coloring (especially the type – liquid versus gel) will add more moisture. The dried strawberries should be fine to add into the mix, but I’ve never tested adding ingredients so I can’t tell you how it will turn out.

In reply to Deborah. Adding fresh strawberries will definitely change this recipe. Strawberries, and other fruit, have a lot of water that will come out in the baking process.
