Eight glasses of water a day, we all know this is the gold standard to healthy living. But how do you get in 8 glasses every day without getting bored with the plainness of water? How do you stay motivated to drink water?
I recently found a “fat flush water” recipe posted on Facebook, and have since found it all over the Internet … on Dr. Oz’s site for one. There are a few different versions, but I’m going to show you the one I made and really enjoyed.
Here it is, a refreshing glass (and pitcher) of flavorful water with a sprig of mint on top!
It doesn’t look as good without the mint. 🙁
Start by cutting fruit in little circles. It makes the water pretty and releases the flavor into the water.
I used an orange, lime, and lemon. And, I added a cucumber. Frankly, the water would be good with just lemon and cucumber. Or just cucumber, like at a spa.
Toss the fruit into a pitcher and fill with water. I also added a handful of mint leaves that I lightly chopped. Made the kitchen smell even more fresh.
Let it sit for about an hour and then pour a glass. It’s a great way to make yourself feel good about drinking water.
What’s the bill for this baby?
Cucumber … $.99
Orange … $.68
Lemon … $.52
Lime … $.25
Mint … $2.69
Total = $5.13
That’s an expensive pitcher of water if you ask me. Of course, the mint is half the cost so if you can grow a batch of it you’d save some. I can’t afford to make this every day, but this pitcher lasted a few days. It’s worth a try if you’re tired of trying to drink plain water.
