Hobby seems like such a useless word in the world of a working mom. For any mom I suppose. When do we have any time to pursue things for us?
I am finding it hard to do some of those activities lately. There are just too many other things to go right now. We have to finish a bathroom remodel project and then get moving on my son’s new bedroom remodel. Once that is complete, then I can work on the baby’s room. I need to purchase some furniture for these rooms, which requires research to find the best price and product. And, it all has to get dine in the next 5 weeks. (I’d like it to be sooner.)
This is on top of our daily lives and schedules.
So, when do I have time to pursue anything for me? For now I put it aside, with the hopes that I will be able to find time in the near future to do some things for me.

I believe that we moms need to make time for our hobbies and interests. It’s too easy for us to postpone our hobbies for the “good of the family,” but that just leads us to feel unappreciated and burned out. My kids know that I need my quilting time as much as they need to play with their toys or watch their favorite TV shows (or whatever else makes them happy and relaxed). They have learned to respect that, and in return, they get a happier Mom.
With that said, sometimes we get enjoyment out of other things, such as shopping for new furniture or remodeling a room, and that can substitute for the joy we get out of our hobbies. It really depends on how you feel about the project.
I don’t know what your favorite hobbies are, so I can’t offer concrete suggestions for fitting your hobby time into your schedule. But I encourage you to find a way to squeeze in some time for yourself. You’ll be glad you did. 🙂

If you’d turno your hobby into work then you wouldn’t need extra time to squeeze in. You would already be doing what you enjoy so you’d have even more time for your family.
