I’ve got a stack of books by my bed, several on my desk, a bunch of magazines in the living room, but these are the five that are currently competing for my attention:
“Clara and Mr. Tiffany” … This is a book club pick for next month. I’m liking this one about a woman who works for “Mr. Tiffany,” the famous maker of the Tiffany lamps and Tiffany glass. His father started Tiffany and Company. Ohh la la. Yet, Mr. Tiffany has a ridiculous policy in his workshop that married women can’t work there. And, the women who do, don’t really get credit for their work. It’s an interesting time and I’m excited to keep reading.
Michael Lewis, “Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood.” — This book came to me through a gift to my husband. It’s an interesting take about how a father feels about parenthood. Typically, we hear the mother’s side, but this is a funny tale from a dad.
“Pins on a Map” — I haven’t started this one yet, but am excited to dig in and learn how one family takes a year off to travel the world. We all talk about doing this don’t we? Let’s read about how someone did it.
“Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother,” by Amy Chua — OK. I have to admit that I wasn’t going to read this one. I put in the order in at the library and was pretty high on the waiting list. But, then it came the other day and I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. It’s fascinating. Even if you don’t believe in the “Chinese way” as Chua describes it, I think that everyone can take away something from her story.
“Good to Great” — This is what I consider a work book. I like reading books like this though and really resonate with them. This one in particular I’m interested in learning more about how to be a top level executive with humility. How do you make something good, great? I hear it’s an excellent book and I’m ready to dive in.

Just started Wuthering Heights because it’s been on my list since high school. That’s a long, long time ago.
